Unique Equestrian Treasures
Design ideas are made into drawings or a favorite photo is used for reference. Each sketch is then constructed in wax by freehand. The wax-up goes through a series of steps to enclose it in a heat proof material. Next it is placed into a kiln to empty the mold of wax and burn it out clean. That mold is then filled with molten gold and allowed to cool. After cooling, the mold is broken open, the alloy cleaned and the article polished.

1. After two dimensional sketches, each piece is meticulously created in wax in three dimensions . The article is viewed and corrected under microscope, for detail.
|
2. Wax-ups are secured to a rubberized base which forms the in-gate for molten metal.

|
3. A steel cylinder ring is securely placed onto the base for the next step. |

![]() 5. The wax burns out clean in a two-phase oven high-heat process. Now the empty mold is ready to receive the molten metal. |
![]() 6. The pre-weighed gold or silver is melted by torch. In its molten liquid state, the heated casting ring is placed in alignment; and a centrifugal casting takes place. |
|
![]() 8. The casting is then cleaned, the desired piece cut from the excess "button" and polished. The leftover metal is added to the next melt with a ratio of new metal for the subsequent casting process. |
